Hi, They do not have such a program for Singaporeans. Currently, Work Study and Working Holiday scheme is for Australians and New Zealanders.

Can my Samsung Eternity work in China/Taiwan

Can my Samsung Eternity work in China/Taiwan?
I'm going overseas for a whole month, and need to keep up with someone via text or calls back here at home too. Could I use my eternity for all this and not end up with a heady phone bill (my carrier is at&t)? And what are all the processes involved? If not, could I still use my phone to play games and such, or does turning it on involve roaming charges? Thanks!

You get roaming charges for all calls and texts however you can probably get a long distance plan for a month so like +$10 or something, then it would be cheaper! Unless your game downloads from the 3G internet(which most games doesn't!) then you are fine. A cheaper way, if your phone is unlocked (you can replace the SIM card inside) then you can get a prepaid SIM card in China/taiwan for like...$10 and then you can make all the local calls without costing a cent with AT&T

If you make or receive any calls, there will be roaming charges. The standard price is 1.99 per minute, but if you have the international roaming plan, its 1.29 per minute instead. I doubt your eternity is an unlocked phone, so you couldn't use a SIM card from one of Taiwan's cell carriers in your phone. There is no cheap way to call back to the US. I think you still can play games on your phone without charges, but i am not sure. Its probably best if you didn't turn it if you want to avoid any roaming charges for sure. Instead, I think you should use a Taiwan cell phone (they might have those disposable ones or something) and then have that person call you. It is much cheaper for the person in the US call Taiwan than the other way around, especially if they are using a calling card. Email is the best option and its free. I think you can just pay a little to go use the computer at the internet cafe for that.

Leave your cell phone at home. AT&T will ruin you with outrageous charges. I know someone who was charged $99.00 per minute while overseas. The phone company sued him in court and won, then they took his house as payment. I kid you not, AT&T is ruthless.

Why not...

What do you mean by "again?" I'm working there now, and the water is fine - come on in.

Did you get caught working illegally? If so, you will have to wait a long time before you can come back. You can't get sent back home because of the global crisis. That's not a reason to take away a Visa.

Does anyone know of a cell phone company in Canada that works in Taiwan as well

Does anyone know of a cell phone company in Canada that works in Taiwan as well?
I am moving to Taiwan for a bit, and would like to just bring my cell phonr over there. I dont have a plan but just a prepaid cell phone. Do you know if any cell phone will work in Taiwan? How expensive would it be? And if I were to go on a plan would it work in Taiwan?

At&t just get a cheap phone, or get some blackberry from verizon that is globally. I strongly suggest some cheap phone from At&t not the best coverage and network. Verizon I would get for a better coverage.

Well... Fido and Rogers work @ taiwan... since they're GSM (phone service that works anywhere in the world) But you will get charged for roaming... Which is REALLY expensive... If its for like a month, it would be very expensive...
