Is election violence common in the democracy of Taiwan? What about Friday's shooting at the KMT rally?
One man was killed and another injured at a KMT election rally. Is this how democracy works in Taiwan?

While incredibly unfortunate and sad, it does seem to be a rather isolated incident. I don't think this is indicative of Taiwan's political process.

No, election violence is not common in Taiwan. And no, this is not how democracy works in Taiwan, as the gunman was already a criminal for having a gun to begin with. Private gun ownership is illegal in Taiwan unless you are an aboriginal, and even in that case, gun ownership is strictly monitored.

i was surprised to see this news on CNN too, on the bottom strip of news around the world. i was surprised because this time is not the usual sissy fist fighting and spitting and hitting binders to each other's head... hope the shooting thing is not too comoon in taiwan or around the world.

Election violence is not that common in Taiwan, this is just something that is weird that has occured and it not common. I heard there was this country where their goverment used their tanks to simply roll over the people who are against them...hmmm...i wonder what country that is... 1) Sean Lien Was shot in the cheek and flew right out of the other side. 2) There was no blood markings on the ground during the whole incident 3) KMT wont release the tape they had at the incident, stating that the whole thing was "Too bloody". 4) The Doctor and nurses and the hospital states that Sean Lien is fine, and that he can eat now, and talk. Fishy? I think so, how can a person recover from a wound that fast, and be able to chew his food, when his mouth litterally has been shot? I feel that there is something that should be justified about this. Could KMT be putting up an act? Well there arnt enough facts to say so yet, so we will keep it at that. Also why would a man run on the stage to shoot? and not shoot at the bottom of the stage, where he could easily shoot and run away? Hmm...

not common. perhaps a certain air polluting and noise polluting tradition of fireworks shooting might be a good idea for security to require the canidates to stop doing for their own protection. It is kind of like repeatedly crying wolf to the reflexes of security people... it makes them less responsive. Kudos to the guy who stopped the psycho from finishing his job... (if in fact there WAS a psycho... I would really prefer there was evidence that there is, actually.)

Do you find it strange that the Chinese leader announced his plan to work with Taiwan on a peace accord
Do you find it strange that the Chinese leader announced his plan to work with Taiwan on a peace accord ?
And, to end hostilities between the two countries. This announcement came just a week after Hillary returned from China on her "sit up and beg" trip from there. Do you wonder what she offered in return for whatever concessions she asked from the Chinese? Could it be Taiwan? Did she kick that ally under the bus like we did the Czech Republic and Poland over the defense missile system that Obama is willing to scuttle if the Russians will help the US over Iran. Did Hillary suggest to the Chinese they take the diplomatic approach over Taiwan and the US will re-think its defense pact with Taiwan? Will we have any allies left before it's all over?

Also If you hire already in Canada, Is there any broker agency that will handle us??? Is Same in Taiwan were lots of agency here making us a money provider??? meaning corrupting ocw workers???
