The following are the main sites for looking for teaching positions in Taiwan. Tealit is one of the best for Taiwan. As for your education, it really depends on what degree you have. If you have a recognized degree from an English speaking country, than it will be easy to work in a cram school. You can try posting your resume on tealit.com and see what happens. http://www.tealit.com/ http://www.eslcafe.com/ http://www.eslteachersboard.com/...

What qualification do you have? What kind of work are you looking for? These thing will affect your situation. BTW isn't it B.A. ?????????? OK, I am a very sloppy writer but: "i don't have a b/a ad that is provoing to be a problem." ???? Hope you aren't looking for work as a teacher!

The market is getting tougher in the last 2 years particularily and there is actual competition for jobs. If you dont have a B/A it is easy to be knocked off the shortlist. Try going out to bushibans in rural areas with less foreigners... or hope to find a newly opened mom and pop bushiban outfit inside the cities who need a foreigner face for market cred more than they care to follow rules -just don't expect to get any job satisfaction at that kind of setup. Government and public schools and private schools and **established** bushibans in major cities will not look at you twice after hearing no B/A. In order to get a work permit here you need to have at least a BA. You can try and take chinese classes and get a student visa that way, but expect that you will not make much money or be able to travel when you want if you do it that way and if you get caught teaching at a school with a student visa you will be booted out, not allowed back in, a big black mark inside your passport which may not impress other customs agents, and your school will get a heavy fine. But most students here do it anyways, and at the moment it seems tolerated, but the rules exist to be enforced whenever some idiot foreigner does something that upsets the authorities. I advise against putting your a$$ in that sling... --If some places were desperate they may accept you without any permit, but you will have to do visa runs every month at your own cost, which could be good for if you want to travel but this tends to make employers here nervous (understandably so) as many backpackers often ditch their contracts early at the visa run point... leaving the employer up s*** creek without a paddle and explaining to angry parents and already overstressed chinese partners about why the guy didn't show up, and giving the rest of us who actually follow the rules a bad rep. The visa run guys are a disappearing breed, but still exist in the lower-rep schools I think. PRC, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam are currently better bets for people who want to teach English without BA's. (with the downside being less money and a somewhat worse quality of life than here in some ways- but better in other ways.) --But some positions may still be here in Taiwan for non BA people.. its just much more difficult than in the past. I highly suggest getting a BA before coming to Asia to work. Otherwise you may not have the ability to correct grammatical mistakes to the standard business people here (and in the rest of the world) NEED for clear communication and negotiation, and you will have no method to access many of the better jobs. At the very least you should take a 1 month 100 hour TESOL course and get a certificate and some teaching practice in. If you don't like drawing, reading or writing or dancing the funky chicken for little brown people's amusement - don't become an English teacher.

Why do you NEED to find work in Taiwan? Are you going to be one of those loser foreigners in Taiwan teaching English illegally and womanizing the country?

Taiwan Embassy in your country can help you get the PCC. Check with them the exact procedure to be followed and documents to be given at your end.

Go to the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines. There's one in Manila and another in Cebu. Here's their website with all the information. http://www.taiwanoffice.org.ph/Ecover2.htm

God have mercy for those people answering your question. First of all, many phillipinos ask the same question before at Yahoo Taiwan Knowledge: For example: http://tw.knowledge.yahoo.com/question/?qid=1607021801235 In Chinese, police clearance is called 良民證. (Here is the question- similar to yours.) 等 Here is the answer: 各地方警局外事科 (police department) Here are all their addresses: http://163.29.169.234/%7Ekhh/04/phone.htm 工本費每份250元、三個工作天, Application fee is 250 NT. And it takes three working days for them to process. You must have someone bring authorization letter in order to process this. For the minor, the legal guardian can process this. Foreigner must have a photo copy of the passport or photo copy of the oversea chinese ID. 回郵掛號信封乙個(自行取件者免附) You would need a mail back envelope or else you can pick it up yourself.

I am South African planning on marrying a Canadian in Taiwan where we are living. Anyone know the procedure?
We are currently living and working in Taiwan but want to return to Canada at the end of the year. I am concerned that it will be a difficult process for me to acquire a visa to return to Canada with my husband. Is anyone familiar with the process and legalities of bringing your foreign wife back to Canada?

I suggest you ask South Africans directly. You will find their forum by going to Home>Travel>Africa & Middle East>South Africa A few live in Taiwan, and there is a wonderful Canadian woman there that could help. Your best bet.

Try this place. They are all GSM phones, I think, http://www.rangeroamer.com/countries/Taiwan.aspx?src=adw&gclid=CJCKpcPC_o8CFRpdagodkmFRuA

why not use Global7? Its a net-to-phone service. But its very cheap. It only charges USD0.0089 to call China. And It gives u a US phone number. What you need to do is to bring a laptop and use internet in some cybercafe. That's it. Feel free to contact me under yahoo answers email system.

If you already have a GSM phone, just get a SIMS card and you are in business...Otherwise, you can get a Mobal phone that will work almost anywhere in the world for $99, without having to replace the card. The catch: incoming and outgoing calls are on the expensive side. The pros: you keep your number forever so people can call you at the same number wherever you are in the world where the phone works. A good and cheap way is also to get the cheaper Mobal phone (you get a motorola for $50, not the sexiest and smartest model but it is functional and you can send sms as well), which comes with a SIMS card that works almost everywhere in the world. When you arrive in China, just buy a SIMS card for 100CNY (rechargeable) and put it in your phone...that's it...you got yourself a GSM phone for $50...
